What this site collects, and what it does not

Short version: no accounts, no cookies, no advertising, and nothing that identifies you. What does happen is that your browser contacts a handful of other organisations to fetch weather and fonts, and each of those sees your IP address. That is worth knowing, so it is set out in full below.

What we do not collect

None of the following exists on this site, either on the pages or behind them.

  • No accounts, sign-ups or passwords.
  • No cookies, and therefore no cookie banner.
  • No advertising, ad networks or profiling.
  • No payment details — every booking and payment happens on somebody else’s site.
  • No newsletter list, and no email address is ever asked for.
  • No name, address or contact details of any kind.

Who your browser contacts

This is a static site with no server of our own, so the pages fetch what they need directly from the organisations that publish it. Each request carries your IP address and browser type to that organisation, in the same way as visiting their own website would. We receive none of it.

What is kept on your device

Two small preferences are stored in your browser so the site remembers how you like it. They are not cookies, they are never sent anywhere, and clearing your browser data removes them.

Analytics

There is currently no analytics on this site at all — no page-view counting, no session recording, no tracking of any kind. If that changes, this page will say so before it happens, and it will name the service and what it collects.

The site links out to official Madeira services, transport operators and a small number of commercial partners. Some of those links earn a commission, and every one of them is labelled where it appears. Following a link takes you to somebody else’s site under somebody else’s privacy policy; nothing about you is passed along beyond the fact that you arrived from here.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have rights over personal data an organisation holds about you. In our case there is nothing to exercise them against, because we hold nothing — but the organisations listed above do receive your IP address, and those rights apply to them directly through the policies linked in that table.

  • Access — a copy of what is held about you.
  • Rectification — correction of anything wrong.
  • Erasure — deletion of what is held.
  • Objection — an end to processing you did not ask for.
  • Portability — your data in a form you can take elsewhere.
  • Complaint — you may complain to your national data protection authority.

Children

The site is a planning tool for travel and everyday life in Madeira. It is not aimed at children, and since it collects nothing it holds no children’s data.

Changes to this page

If what the site does changes, this page changes with it and the date above moves. There is no archive of previous versions; the page history is public in the site’s source repository.
