Two sets of lava pools at the island’s north-west corner, a few minutes apart, and only one of them takes money: €3 all year at the Piscinas Naturais, nothing at all at the Cachalote pools beside the restaurant. The municipality reports an annual average water temperature of 20–21 °C; this is not a reading for today. The same concelho runs east along the coast to Seixal, whose black sand got there by itself.

Neither the village nor the lava pools has a working camera: both known feeds are removed videos, and the operator’s own page still links them. The nearest live view is Seixal, along the same north coast and in this same municipality.
