Sight, checked

Cabo Girão

Cabo Girão is the one viewpoint on Madeira that charges admission: €5 since 1 January 2026, read from the regulation itself. The hours, who goes free, and why older guides still say €2 or €3.

Every fee, hour and route on this page is read from its source register; the oldest of those checks was on July 26, 2026.

The answer

The only viewpoint that charges. €5, no booking needed.

Yes, it charges. Cabo Girão is the only viewpoint on Madeira with an admission fee: €5, open 08:00 to 20:00 every day, with no booking required.

What it is

The skywalk on top of the sea cliff at Cabo Girão, in the municipality of Câmara de Lobos. It is run by the regional government, which is why its fee is set by a regional regulation rather than by the town.

What it costs

  • €5 for over-12s who are not resident in Madeira. Children up to and including 12 go free, as do residents of the Autonomous Region and visitors with reduced mobility.
  • Open 08:00 to 20:00 every day. The official document gives no seasonal variation, despite listings that claim winter hours.
  • Booking is not required. There are 3 kiosks at the viewpoint; buying online in advance is a convenience, not a condition of entry.
  • A ticket stays valid for 180 days from issue, so buying ahead does not tie you to a date.
  • Run by the regional government, not by the municipality — listings routinely credit Câmara de Lobos, which is only where it stands.

€2, €3 and €5 were all correct, in turn

  1. €2 — Portaria n.º 946/2022
  2. €3 — Portaria n.º 567/2024
  3. €5 — Portaria n.º 591/2025

And there is a better reason still. The regional government continues to serve a superseded instruction sheet stating 2€, from the same directory as the current one stating 5€. Both were downloaded and read on the same day. A writer checking an official source could honestly land on either.
